Games and decorating ideas for your Kids Place playhouse

Let the kids go wild decorating with paints, felts, stickers and stencils (and save your wallpaper)! Double your decorating space by decorating the inside! Try using old wrapping paper, maybe make some curtains. Creativity is limited only by the imagination!

We used some magnetic and blackboard paint from Resene and had a lot of fun with these. Paint it on while the house is flat and use two coats (let it dry between coats). This adds a whole new activity. My son was the "teacher" and two friends were the "kids at school" as he drew on the blackboard we had created inside the house.

Feature on our website - send us photos of your creation!

CREATIVE DECORATING GAME

This game is called "Move along one!".

Get all the kids to take turns drawing the outline of each other on their playhouse (depending on age you might have to do it for them ). You want lots of features on these outlines (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and hair as well as a watch, shirts with buttons, jeans, shoes etc - an adult might need to help with this).

When the house is covered in outlines of little people put some lively music on.

Each child then chooses an outline to paint or colour details on.

Ready, set, go! and they all colour in starting with the eyes (they might need a little guidance to get started). Call out "Don't catch flies - paint the eyes"

When that has progressed enough, stop the music and call out "move along one"and get the children to all move along one outline each (clockwise or anti clockwise).

Start the music again but this time they paint noses, so call out "Don't be a hose - paint the nose".

Once this has progressed enough, stop the music, call out "move along one" then start the music and call out "Apples and Pears, paint the ears"

I think you understand how this goes now.

The other instructions to call out are:

"Don't go South, paint the mouth"

"Goldilocks knows Poppa Bear, paint the hair"

"Give it a spurt and paint the shirt"

"Many sheep are muttons, one by one paint the buttons"

"Hop Scotch, paint the watch"

"Jelly Beans, paint the jeans"

"No time to snooze, paint the shoes".

The game ends with everyone giving their person a name. We hope you all enjoy this game!
